Atlanta After Dinner...

Packed into the hotel,
Friends in town for a night,
We sat through Houston's,
Rib barbecue religion,
Artichoke art and forks,
Catching up and clueing in,
Back at the room and warm stars winking,
The man the color of night speaking of dust storms,
Raging in West Texas sky,
Sharing cigar magic,
C-130's droning past above,
Soft wine red glowing warm,
We set the night to bed,
Breathing between clock ticks,
Unfolded alarm whispering "hooray,"
Face wash us to sleep,
The coast is calling!
