Dinosaur Safari

Hush! Come look quick!
Shhh! It's not a trick!
Little sister and me,
I'm just past three.

Wake me up one morning super early,
To see a site that makes my toes just curly.
Living right off the Air Force base,
You should have a picture of the "Oh" on my face.

Black dinosaurs walk down a Wisconsin street,
It was really wierd and neat.
Men in safari clothes and hats,
Shotguns and bandoliers on the cats.

Chasing the neighbor lady back inside,
And when we were spotted peeking the guy was evil-eyed.
Little kids who would believe,
That their minds need not be relieved.

Still on duty in their tiny heads,
And years the memory sheds.
There are things out there that you never know,
Until into the twilight you go.

People still say we're crazy, and yet,
We both remember, can not forget.
No, no cartoon or dream we saw,
but it sure did drop my jaw.

I stepped into the twilight zone young.

Just a dream? Guess we'll never know, Just how far the sixties let us go. Even little kids.
