Fireworks & Dreams

Do you know what those loud bangs are you hear every Fourth of July?
Echoes. You bet, just echoes. Recreations from when dreams were let fly.

Sparklers dancing in the hot summer sun, little eyes gleaming in light of fun.
Echoes of old fires and forgotten drums, reprise of burnings done.

We survived and thrived because the sounds that created those echoes were.

Cannonade, fire of jade, showers of golden and green sparks in the sky,
Red, white, blue, mortars reflecting colors to you, and do you know why?

In celebration, of great, grand dreams, little ones.
Fireworks bang and great white flashes, in memoriam of lost loved sons.

Our forefathers gave us an incredible gift. Don't let it drift, away.

Heat. Crowds. Cotton candy, and lights in the sky for moments brief,
Glowing in stark relief, all hail our ancient chiefs, and celebrate culmination of belief.
Babies that cry and eyes looking high, spirits of joy in another season,

I tell you though, their sacrifices and genius the reason.

Fireworks. Just a distant echo of their memory.

Their great work lives on.

Light up the Sky!

We should never forget how hard it was for our nation to live, or for our ancestry to create such a tradition for us.
